- India’s ranking in the SDG index for 2024 has improved to 109th out of 166 countries. This reflects the country’s progress in achieving sustainable development through various initiatives and policy reforms. The SDG index measures progress across 17 interconnected goals, including poverty reduction, gender equality, and climate action.
- Jasprit Bumrah has been announced as the brand ambassador of L&T Finance Ltd. This strategic partnership aims to enhance LTF’s brand presence across India and connect with a wide range of customers.
- Challa Sreenivasalu Setty, also known as CS Setty, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Indian Banks Association (IBA) for the upcoming fiscal year. Setty, who currently serves as the Chairman of the State Bank of India (SBI), will lead the IBA in advocating for the banking sector, addressing industry challenges, and ensuring policy support.
- The 14th edition of the India-Russia bilateral naval exercise, INDRA 2025, involves the participation of Russia alongside India. This exercise took place from March 28 to April 2, 2025, off the coast of Chennai, focusing on strengthening maritime cooperation between the two nations.
- In 2024, India emerged as the world’s second-largest tea exporter, surpassing Sri Lanka and following Kenya, which remained the top exporter. India exported 254 million kilograms of tea, marking a significant growth from the previous year.
- Ajay Seth has been appointed as the new Finance Secretary of India, succeeding Tuhin Kanta Pandey. Seth has been serving as the Economic Affairs Secretary since 2021 and has played a crucial role in shaping financial policies and infrastructure financing.
- Tata Motors has appointed Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal as the brand ambassador for its Passenger and Electric Vehicle range. This collaboration is launched with the “Take the Curvv” campaign, promoting the upcoming Tata Curvv SUV during IPL 2025.
- New Pamban Bridge: It Connects Indian mainland with Rameshwaram island. It is constructed Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways. Its Length is 2.08 kilometer.
